The Monarchs 40 Years & Counting

They are one of the oldest rock 'n' roll bands in the country.

In 1961 nine teenage boys got together in a South Louisvill basement. The harmony they created put them in the national spotlight and still lives today.

Relive forty years of sock hops, Catholic dances and good-time music in "The Monarchs... 40 Years & Counting." Music, pictures and interviews with the band's original and current members tell the story of Louisville's musical ambassadors."

The Monarchs
A Night With The Monarchs

If you want to know what life was like in the 1960's, go to a Monarchs concert.

For forty years, The Monarchs have wowed crowds with their harmony and unmistakable sound.

In 1961 the group started out singing in the basement of a South Louisville home. Their signature ballad "Look Homeward Angel" was a national hit. Forty years later the group is just as popular as ever, performing dozens of concerts throughout the year.

Spend a night with The Monarchs as they perform their "good time music."

The Monarchs
40th Anniversary Celebration

On a Sturday night in 1961, you'd find The Monarchs enteraining their friends at a Catholic Teen Club in Louisville. Today, forty years later, The Monarchs still play rock 'n' Roll at Catholic dances; but add to that corporate dinners, New Year's Eve galas, and festivals on the Waterfrount.

Celebrate forty years of music with The Monarchs! This performance, recorded live on the band's 40th anniversary includes their classics like "Look Homeward Angel" and "This Old Heart" as well as music from their current CD.
